Liz Mandeville mourns Koko Taylor On Thursday, June 11, Liz Mandeville, accompanied by David Strzepek of Chicago's 2016 Committee, joined the hundreds of musicians, dignitaries, family & fans gathered at operation PUSH to say a final goodbye to Chicago's long-reigning Queen of the Blues. Reporters from NBC News/AP were on hand to collect final impressions. Channel 5's Natalie Martinez interviewed Liz on this sad day for Chicago's musical family. Hundreds Pay Respects to Koko Taylor
By NATALIE MARTINEZ and BJ LUTZUpdated 8:14 PM CDT, Fri, Jun 12, 2009 Mourners lined up Friday to attend funeral services for the "Queen of Blues" Koko Taylor, who passed away last week. In attendance at the visitation were Mayor Richard Daley and musicians Denise Williams, Otis Clay and Liz Mandeville. "She opened a lot of doors for all of us women who followed in the blues," said blues singer Mandeville said.
