January 25, 2010, Award-winning Chicago-based recording artist, Liz Mandeville, is scheduled for surgery to remove multiple large tumors from her abdominal cavity. Doctors are fairly certain that the tumors are non-cancerous and anticipate her full recovery.
“I’ve been incredibly blessed with excellent health up until this point. I’ve been so focused on the music that I forgot to take care of myself. Sometimes you need a thump in the head as a reminder that life doesn’t wait. I anticipate being back at work by late spring. We’re planning a big party to celebrate my full recovery sometime in May with tour dates to follow. Plans are also in the works for a new album, a cookbook, and ventures into film and theatre.
I’m very grateful for the support that has been shown to me by my husband, family, band mates, and concerned friends and fans who have asked where I’ve been hiding. I intend to beat this. I’m sorry I haven’t said anything up until this point. I wasn’t sure what to say. Now, I’m asking people to pray for me. I’ve never had surgery and I’m really scared. ”
